What is the the difference between 304 & 304L?
The main difference between 304 & 304L stainless steel comes from their carbon content levels. 304L is the reduced carbon content alternative to 304 stainless steel, the "L" stand for "Low Carbon". 304L is specifically designed to minimise the risk of carbide precipitation and sensitisation during welding or high-temperature processes, making it preferred for certain applications where welding is involved.
