904L (1.4539)

904L stainless steel is a premium, high-alloy super austenitic stainless steel designed for outstanding corrosion resistance in demanding environments. It performs exceptionally well in the presence of strong acids and chloride-rich conditions, making it the ideal choice for applications where standard stainless steels such as 304 or 316L may fail. Classified as a super austenitic grade, 904L contains significantly higher levels of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum, which provide superior protection against pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, ensuring long-term durability and reliability.

With a composition of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, copper, and carbon, 904L stainless steel delivers exceptional performance in applications that demand superior corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and outstanding toughness. This combination of elements ensures long-lasting durability even in harsh chemical, marine, and industrial environments.

Key Benefits of 904L

Exceptional Corrosion Resistance – Highly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, particularly in acidic and chloride-rich environments.

Excellent Resistance to Acids – Performs exceptionally well against sulfuric, phosphoric, and other aggressive acids where standard stainless steels may fail.

Superior Toughness – Maintains excellent mechanical strength and toughness across a wide range of temperatures.

Good Heat Resistance – Retains strength and corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures.

Excellent Weldability and Formability – Can be easily fabricated without loss of corrosion resistance, making it suitable for complex components.

Long Service Life – Reduced maintenance requirements and extended durability lower overall lifecycle costs.
