UNS S32760
UNS S32760 is a type of super duplex stainless steel known for its exceptional corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in challenging environments where standard stainless steels do not provide sufficient protection against corrosion. This type of super duplex steel features a mixed microstructure of austenite and ferrite (50/50), offering improved strength compared to ferritic and austenitic steel grades. The primary difference is that UNS S32760 contains higher levels of Molybdenum and Chromium, providing it with superior corrosion resistance.
UNS S32760 shares the same benefits as other super duplex steels. It has lower production costs when compared to similar ferritic and austenitic grades. Additionally, due to its enhanced tensile and yield strength, this material often allows purchasers to opt for smaller thicknesses without compromising on quality and performance.
Composition: Also known as F53, has a similar composition to UNS S32750, but with some variations to enhance its performance. It typically contains:
Chromium (about 25%), Molybdenum (about 4%), Nickel (around 7%), Nitrogen (adds strength and improves corrosion resistance), and Iron (majority of the composition).
Super Duplex Structure: Like other super duplex stainless steels, UNS S32760 has a dual-phase microstructure, consisting of austenite and ferrite in roughly equal proportions. This microstructure provides: High strength, excellent corrosion resistance and better mechanical properties compared to regular austenitic stainless steels.
Corrosion Resistance: UNS S32760 offers exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly in: Chloride environments (such as seawater and brine), acidic and oxidative environments as well as pitting and crevice corrosion resistance
Mechanical Properties: It has excellent strength compared to standard austenitic stainless steels, making it suitable for applications that require both strength and corrosion resistance.
